COMMODORE AMIT RASTOGI (RETD)
Commodore Amit Rastogi(Retd), is the Chairman & Managing Director of National Research Development Corporation, a section 8 company under Ministry of Science and Technology, New Delhi, since 18th Oct21.
Prior taking over appointment as CMD, he had an illustrious career in Indian Navy for 34 years. He is a B.Tech. (Electrical Engineering) from JNU, New Delhi and is an alumnus of Institute of Armament Technology (Deemed University), Pune where besidescompletingAdvance Naval Weapon System Engineering Course, he obtained Mastersdegree in Electronics & Tele-Communication from Poona University in 1994. He is also a distinguished alumnus of DefenceServices Staff College Wellington and College of Defence Management, Secunderabad. He also holds M.Sc. (Defence& Strategic Studies) from Madras University.
In his professional career in the Navyhe has had the diversified experience of serving on Frontline Warships and in Naval Dockyard, Naval Headquarters, Missile establishment and Directorate General Quality Assurance. He carries the uniquedistinction of serving on Aircraft Carriers Vikrant and Viraat as Head of Electrical Dept. During his appointments at senior positions at Naval Headquarters, he had been responsible for induction of State-of-the-art technologyIntensiveCombat Systems through indigenous development and Transfer of Technology route. The product profile ranges from Phased ArrayRadars, ElectronicWarfareSystem,Combat Management System, Communication Systems and Missile etc. He has authored numberof policies related to Qualification testing and Electronic Stress Screening for electronic systems which are being extensively used by IndianDefence Industry as production norm. As Deputy Director General, Quality Assurance, he provided the leadership towards IPR proliferation in DPSUs, vendor development, process improvements and QA of Defence equipment worth Rs.8000 crores.
He has the demonstrated capability of management of large enterprise with diversified and multi-disciplinarytechnical workforce whilst simultaneously engaging stakeholders ranging from DRDO, Academia, Industry and Ministry for meeting organizational objectives.
He carries the vision of providing NRDC, a Global Identity and be a leading Technology Transfer organization in the world, utilizing contemporary best practices and scaling up of operations. In the short span of 6 months he has provided the much needed leadership in streamlining the HR component, establishing JVs to set up Technical Business Incubators, adoption of nuclear and aerospace technologies for commercialization, setting up foreign collaborations, establishing MOUs with Navratnas, fairness and transparency in dealings through implementation of ERP and e-office solutions.
He believes in work life balance with utmost importance to upkeep of good health. He is an Isha meditator and pursues yogicpractices learnt fromShri SadhguruJaggiVasudev’sIsha foundation. He is a keen golfer, pursues photography and is a Randonneur (long distance cyclist).
