Title of the Innovation: Breath Analyzer

Brief About Innovation

A “Prototype breath analyzer” and “a simple diagnostic methodology” have been developed for non-invasive diagnosis of Helicobacter pylori infection, ulcer disease or non-ulcerous dyspepsia in our stomach through human breath tests without any painful and invasive endoscopy-based biopsy tests in the hospital.

Brief description of product and the problem it addresses :

Human exhaled breath contains a larger number of different molecular species with different masses. Some of theses species so called “breathprints” are strongly associated with the gastrointestinal (GI) disorders. When we have the disease or any irregularities in the GU tract of our body, the levels of these “breath-prints” may change from their normal levels. We capture the masses of these “breath-prints” with a simple breath analyzer exploiting the mass-spectrometry technique.

Novelty of product:

  • It is a non-invasive & quick diagnosis method.
  • There is no need for painful endoscopy and biopsy test.
  • The test can be repeated several times without any pain.
  • There is no risk for the patients. The test can be done through on-line and off-line mode.
  • Breath samples can be collected from any places.
  • The device will assist for early-detection of the disease as well as follow-up of the patients even after the eradication of the infection
  • following standard therapies. It avoids the necessity for the need of second time endoscopic biopsy tests following therapies.
