Title of the Innovation: Oxygen Enrichment / Oxygen concentrator Unit (Suitable for COVID-19)

Brief About Innovation

In the atmosphere, the presence of nitrogen is about 78%, oxygen is about 21%, argon is about 0.9%, carbon dioxide is 0.04%, and other gases in trace amounts. The developed Oxygen Enrichment Unit is a device, which concentrates the oxygen from the air around us by selectively removing nitrogen to supply oxygen-enriched air. The concentrated Oxygen is delivered to the patient with breathing-related problems through an oxygen mask or nasal cannula to improve Oxygenation in the blood. It works on the principle of Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) and utilizes Zeolite Columns for selective removal of nitrogen from air under certain pressure, thereby increasing the Oxygen Concentration.

Main Raw Materials of the OEU:
1. Oil-Free Reciprocating Compressor (Continuous Duty)
2. Oxygen grade Zeolite Sieves
3. Pneumatic Components (3/2 solenoid valve, pressure regulator)

Application/uses:

 The device may be used in Homes or Hospital type facilities for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases (COPD), chronic hypoxemia, and pulmonary edema.

 It may be used as an adjunct treatment for severe sleep apnea (in conjunction with a continuous positive airway pressure unit). With an optional plug-in module, the same unit can work in high altitudes as well (up to 14000 ft). However, the maximum flow will be reduced to 10 LPM and more than 90% oxygen enrichment will be available until 1.5 LPM.
