Additive Manufacturing of Bronze on Steel Bimetallic Parts

The bimetallic components can be made from bronze & steel alloy and it can be comprised of a two-layer structure in which bronze alloy is supported with a steel backing. The soft bronze layer can provide good lubricating performance with oil grease, hard steel back can provide good support and cut down the cost. This structure, whose mechanical strength is high, can be used under lubricated conditions and high-speed/high load operation.

  • Bronze powders.

  • Argon and Helium gases.

Advantages:

  • Produces an alloy much harder than plain copper.
  • Bronze resists corrosion and metal fatigue better and conducts heat and electricity, better than most steel.
