The System Engineering Facility (SEF), under the aegis of the National Research Development Corporation (NRDC), is a strategic initiative and a specialized model of engineering intervention where technical gaps in early-stage innovations are diagnosed and addressed through structured systems engineering practices. The facility aims to bridge the critical gap between innovative ideas and functional prototypes, offering a multidisciplinary ecosystem for technical mentorship, modeling, simulation, and validation essential for Proof of Concept (PoC) development.

NRDC and its partners provide comprehensive consultancy services, leveraging expertise in system architecture, modeling, and validation to transform conceptual designs into reliable, scalable, and pilot-ready systems. SEF empowers startups, MSMEs, industry, and academia by assisting them in navigating the complexities of product development through integrated engineering processes. By providing access to cost-effective tools and domain-specific expertise, the SEF enables entities to synchronize their products with applicable standards and regulatory guidelines while enhancing overall reliability, scalability, and market readiness. The services offered include requirement capture and system definition; development of system architecture and interface frameworks; model-based system engineering (MBSE), simulation, and early validation; multidisciplinary subsystem integration; verification and validation support with requirement traceability; and guidance on safety and regulatory compliance. NRDC may also facilitate proof-of-concept development and system integration support, as required. The objective of these services is to reduce technical and development risks, minimize iterative prototyping costs, improve product maturity and readiness, and enable a smoother transition from ideation to pilot- or market-ready solutions, without assuming responsibility for manufacturing, commercialization, or statutory approvals unless expressly agreed in writing.
