Title of the Innovation: GLUCOSAMINE HYDROCHLORIDE FROM SILKWORM
Brief About Innovation
Glucosamine (2-amino-2-deoxy glucose) is cellular glue naturally present in the body of Silkworms. It is primary building block for proteoglucans and offers support for building and maintenance of collagen between joints. It also helps to maintains healthy connective tissues. The function of proteoglucans is to attract water in to the joint space for lubrication of cartilage during movement. Glucosamine Hydrochloride is for people who are experiencing limited flexibility related to their joints. It is intended for making people active who are aging and can also be used by those who participate in sports.
Process:
Deproteinization and de-acetylation techniques used. The silkworm waste is hydrolyzed using acid, filtered, vacuum distilled and then subjected to decolorization.
Major plant & machinery:
Oven, glass lined de-proteinizaiton boiler, filtration unit with vacuum suction, glass-line reflux boiler, vacuum distillation unit, solvent recovery unit, effluent collection tank and its safe disposal.
